Tekoma Energy Inc., a major domestic renewable energy company, has signed an agreement with Shikoku Electric Power Co., Inc. for off-site PPA services on April 30, 2025, through a special purpose company (SPC) managed by Tekoma Energy.
Based on this PPA, Tekoma Energy will build solar power plants in three locations in Shikoku (total output: 4.5MW) and generate electricity from renewable energy sources, aiming to start commercial operation in 2026. Shikoku Electric Power, a retail electricity supplier, plans to procure this electricity and supply it to 10 locations owned by JTEKT Corporation, a Toyota Motor Corporation parts manufacturer, and its group companies. Shikoku Electric Power will be responsible for supply and demand adjustment work associated with the off-site PPA.
Tekoma Energy plans to expand its domestic solar power plant portfolio to over 1GW (1,500GWh) over the next three years in order to provide Japanese electricity consumers with a long-term, stable supply of electricity for more than 30 years.
■Comment from CEO Tericabras Ginebra Gerard
"We are grateful to Shikoku Electric Power and JTEKT for appointing us as their power procurement partner. We are also proud that this PPA will help develop Japan's core automotive and transportation equipment industry. Through the development of over 1GW (1,500GWh) of domestic solar power, we will work hard to contribute to the achievement of Japan's carbon neutral goals."
